Does Target drug test?
If you are planing to apply for a position, you should be aware of Targets Drug testing policy and procedures.
Just like any other big box retailer, Target does drug test for some positions
There are a few corporate, management and upper management positions that do not screen employees.
But if you are applying for the following, expect to be screened:
- Retail – All store employees are tested
- Retail Distribution Centers – All excluding management through progression
- Seasonal – All screened
- New Hires – potential new employees also go through per-employment drug screening
- Re hires – Same screening as new hires
Currently, the only states we can currently confirm are, New York, New Jersey, California, Carolina, Connecticut, Georgia.
But since Pre-employment screening is part of the corporate hiring policy. Expect to be tested thought out the US.
Targets Hiring and Drug Testing Process
Need the job anyway, heres what you can expect
If your going to try and grab a job at Target, job fairs are your best bet. You will have a chance to meet the new boss face to face. The application and interviewing may happen on the spot.
But the drug screening will have to be at a later date, giving you a little time to detox. If hired, you can expect to be tested within 24 hours, sometimes you can push it up to 48 hours max.
Coming in for an interview
It doesn’t matter if your new, seasonal, temp or a rehire. Expect to be tested immediately after being hired. The entire interview process can take over 2 hours.
New employees may be interview a couple of times. If all goes well, you will be tested for physical capability and screened the same day.
Depending on the interview location, you maybe asked to report to a diagnosis lab within 2 hours.
If you already work for Target, you may still be tested for drug use. Although Target does not preform random drug screening on current employees. They will test employees for liability purposes.
If you are injured, case an injury, damage goods valued over $500 or are involved in an accident on the job. You will be subject to screening.
How they check for drug use
The simplest, easiest and cheapest form of screening is a urine drug test. Target uses urine analysis exclusively for all screening. In some cases, distribution center employees might have to take a saliva test but not likely.
The urine analysis is a 5 panel drug test that checks for the following metabolites:
Marijuana testing, checks for THC and THC-COOH, both of which are products of causal cannabis use. If you have enough time to naturally cleanse your system, thats your best bet.
Otherwise, use can use a cleansing product that should help flush your system of THC. But they are not 100% guaranteed to pass if you have recently smoked pot.
