Visine has been a stoner’s goto for every. It’s probably been used to hide a stoners red eye before you where even born. Unfortunately, the knowledge has never really been passed down. Maybe because we were too high to remember?
In any case, here are some tips on how and when to use Visine to cover up your high. First, let us go over some basics.
Whats in Visine and how does it work?
Visine is a super simple product that only contains two active ingredients:
- potassium chloride – Salt like chemical that aids in absorption
- tetrahydrozoline hydrochloride – Constricts blood vessels in the eyes

There is also popular myth about putting a few drops of Visine in someones drink. It’s suppose to give them uncontrollable diarrhea, guess what it is true, but actually a lot worse.
Tetrahydrozoline hydrochloride is a fairly dangers compound that can cause some very serous side effects. So think twice before trying to prank someone.
Ingesting Visine can cause vomiting, nausea, seizures, tremors, trouble breathing and even hypothermia

Use Visine before you get smoking weed
You know your about to get high and you got your eye drops ready. Should you use Visine before or after you get high. For maximum and immediate effects get 2 drops in each eye first. If you restrict the capillary first, you won’t have to wait for it to take effect.
Does Visine ruin your High?
Using eye drops won’t really effect your high. But for some it might alter it slightly. Because smoking cannabis will increase blood flow. Using eye drops will effect the visual perspective of smoking. If you notice the difference, consider it a trade off.
You Use Contacts?
If you use contacts, there is a possibility of irritation. If you use eye drops regularly through out the day, there can be build up. Contact lens usually lay on-top of a thin layer of fluid. This fluid can also become contaminated and get trapped under the lens. making red eyes worse.

Chances are you use eye drops way to much or wear contacts. Too much Visine to often will have the opposite effect. If you can cut down on the eye drops, especially if you now your going to be smoking weed later.

Best eye drops for weed
It may be a matter of preference, but I have a few friends that swear by certain brand. Also Visine can be a little to harsh for regular use. So here are some recommendations:
Rohto – It’s like visine on steroids. If you have never used it, be prepaid this stuff burns. It contains chemicals that make your eyes feel like they are on top of ice cubes. Also uses tetrahydrozoline HCl which is supposed to act faster.
Clear Eyes – This product also contains a lubricant that may relive irritation. For some the added ingredient can make eyes tear up more than usual.
Opcon A – Good stuff if you can get it. Opcon will make your eyes whiter than a sheet of paper. There is also a small chance of irritation.
Now that you know these tips, there is no reason to walk around with blood shot eyes. So feel free to do your thin and light up.
