New research has found that Cannabis maybe effective in treating RBD along with other sleep related issues.
What is RBD?
For some of us, sleeping doesn’t usually involve any physical activity. But for those that suffer from RBD, this might not be true.
RBD or REM Sleep Behavior Disorder, is when the body doesn’t go into the normal temporary paralysis associated with the REM state. Causing the sufferer to physically act out dreams. Often kicking, punching, jumping or moving around while dreaming.
Currently, the only real medical option for treatment is, Meletonin and Clonazepam. Both of which seem to provide little relief. While Clonazepam has also proven to cause more negative side-effects.
Marijuana Under Recent Review
A recent review of set out to summarize what we know about cannabis and its effects on sleep cycles was published last month.
- THC may decrease sleep latency and reduce nightmares associated with chronic pain.
- CBD can be used to treat insomnia and possibly treat RBD
Although this is great news, more research will be needed. But, I’m sure the outcome will prove to be positive. Without are with limited negative side effects.
